Metal Lumber Shelving Specifications - DOC - 23KB
Republic Metal Lumber is a roll formed angle made of hot rolled carbon steel. Two gauges of steel, 12 and 14, are used in the three sizes of Metal Lumber that are available. This steel is to have a yield point of 42,000 pounds per square inch.
Three sizes of Metal Lumber are available. The smallest size is a 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" angle in 14 gauge. The second size is 1-1/2" x 2-1/4" angle in 14 gauge. The largest is the 1-1/2" x 3" angle in 12 gauge. All three sizes are available in 10 feet and 12 feet lengths.
All angles are punched with round end slots on 3/4" centers the full length of the angle. The 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" angle has one row of slots in each leg located 9/16" from the edge. The rows of slots alternate a longitudinal slot then a transverse slot. The longitudinal slots are 11/32" x 1/2" and the transverse slots are 11/32" x 7/16". The 1-1/2" x 2-1/4" angle has one row of slots in the shore leg and two rows in the long leg. The two rows in the long leg are 3/4" apart. The 1-1/2" x 3" angle has one row of slots in the short leg and two rows in the long leg. The two rows in the long leg are 1-1/2" apart.
All parts are given a coat of baking enamel which is baked on at 300 degrees for 30 minutes. See specification on preparation and painting for a detailed explanation of preparation and performance.
Metal lumber is packed in bundles of 10 pieces. Each bundle includes a hardware bag containing 75 nuts and bolts. The 1-1/2" x 3" metal lumber angle has 5/16-18x3/4" long hex head bolts and serrated flange hex nuts. The other sizes of metal lumber get the same hardware, only the bolts are 5/8" long. These angles should be interchangeable with slotted angle product made by other manufacturers.
A Metal Lumber Cutter is available for cutting angles in 3/4" increments.
